A man is fourtimes as old as his son. After 16 years, he will be only twice as old as hisson. Find their present ages.

Let Son's age = x and Man's age = 4x

After 16 years,

$2(x \: + \: 16) \: = \: 4x \: + \: 16 \:$

$2x \: + \: 32 \: = \: 4x \: + \: 16$

$16 \: = \: 2x$

$x \: = \: 8 \: years$

• Son's age = 8 years and Man's age = 32 years
