220V a.c means the effective or virtual value of a.c s 220V ie., Vrms=2Vrms

As peak value, V0=2Vrms=1.414×220=331volt

But 220V d.c has the same peak valve (ie., 220V). Moreover the shock of a.c is attractive and that of d.c is repulsive

Hence 220V a.c is more dangerous than 220 volts d.c
