Answer:

Man is known by the company he keeps is a very old and well-known proverb. It means that any person's reputation depends upon his/hers association or friends he has. ... If a person has a bad company of bad friends, the people around him will avoid him because of the image which is created by the bad company.

A man’s character is generally judged by the kind of people he lives with. He will be declared a gentle man, if he keeps company of good gentle and noble men. He will be condemned as a bad character if he keeps company with the bad character. It is an old notion “That the birds of the same feather flock together”. So, the men generally keep the company of those who have taste and habits similar to him. Sometimes by ignorance a good-character person may happen to be in the company of a worthless person. In that case our judgement towards the person will be far from truth. Therefore the saying “that a man is known by the company he keeps” is not of universal application.

Hope it helps you!!!!!
