Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

time =  \frac{distance \: coverd}{speed}  \\ distance \: to \: be \: coverd \:  = 260 + 140 = 400m \\ relative \: speed \:  = 55 - 10 = 45k m \: per \: hour \\ relative \: speed \: in \: ms \:  = 45 \times  \frac{5}{18}  =   \frac{75}{6}  \\ time = 400 \times  \frac{6}{75} = 32sec

Answer:

The train will cross the man in 32 sec

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

A man is running at 10km/hr in a parallel track in the same direction of a train which is moving at 55 km/hr. He is 260m ahead of the train.We are required to find the time in which the train will cross the man.

We know that,length of the train=140m

Distance between the man and the train=260m.

Hence,the total distance to be covered by train to cross the man is

140+260=400m

Now,the speed of the man is V_{m}=10km/h

The speed of the train is V_{t}=55km/h

As the train and man are moving parallel to each other,the relative speed of train with respect to the man is

V_{tm}=V_{t}-V_{m}=55-10=45km/h=45\times\frac{5}{18} =12.5m/s

Now the time taken by train to cross the man is the ratio of distance to be covered and relative speed.Hence,

t=\frac{400}{12.5} =32sec

Therefore,The train will cross the man in 32 sec
