Let the present age of son be x years

Present age of man = 6x years

20 years later

Age of son = x + 20

Age of man = 6x + 20

According to the question

6x + 20 = 2 ( x + 20 )

6x + 20 = 2x + 40

6x – 2x = 40 – 20

4x = 20

x = 20/4

x = 5

Present age of son = 5years

Present age of man = 30 years

Age of man when his son was born

= 30 5 = 25 years

Answer:

The man is currently 30 years old and his son is 5 yrs old. Father is 6 times as old.

20 years in the future the father is 50 yrs old and the son is 25 yrs old. Father would be then, 2 times the son’s age.

6x + x = 2x + x +20

7x = 3x +20. subtract from each side the unknown own variable x

4x=20. X=5

Son 5 now and 25 future

Dad 30 now and 50 future

Prove it:

6(5) + (5) = 2(5) + (5)+20

30+5=10+5+20 ; 35=35.

PAST AND FUTURE ALIGN

30 YRS MINUS SONS AGE OF 5 YRS = 25 YEARS

THE DAD WAS 25 WHEN JUNIOR WAS BORN
