A man is suffering from AIDS. He is not able to fight off even minor infections because his immune system is weakened by the HIV virus.

  • AIDS is an infectious disease caused due to a viral pathogen (HIV Virus).
  • The virus after entering the body makes copies of itself by taking over the machinery of macrophages.
  • This virus then attacks the helper T-cells that provide immunity to our body against foreign pathogens.
  • As the number of T-cells constantly decreases, the immunity of the body also decreases and the patient is unable to fight infections.
