Answer: The man will be 30 years old.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the son's age be x

Therefore the man's age=3x

After 10 years,

Son's age will be x+10

Man's age will be 3x+10

According to the question,

The man will be twice of his son's age I.e. he will be 2(x+10)

Therefore, 2(x+10)=3x+10

2x+20=3x+10

2x-3x=10-20

-x=-10

x=10

Present age of son= 10 years

Present age of the=3×10=30years

GiveN :

  • A man is thrice as old as his son.
  • Three years later man's age will be twice of son's age.

To FinD :

  • Present age of man

SolutioN :

Convert the given statements into the equations :

Let

  • Men's age = y years
  • Son's age = x years

⇒y = 3xㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ...(1)

_________________

After 10 years

⇒y +10 = 2(x + 10)

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤPut value y from (1)

⇒ 3x + 10 = 2(x + 10)

⇒ 3x + 10 = 2x + 20

⇒x = 20 - 10

⇒x = 10

\therefore Present Age of son is 10 years.

______________________

ㅤㅤㅤㅤPut value of x in (1)

⇒y = 3x

⇒y = 3(10)

⇒y = 30

\therefore Father's age is 30 years.
