Hello!

Question:-

A man is twice as old as his son. 20 years ago, the age of the man was 12 times the age of the son, find their present age.

Solution:

Let son's age be K years

Then, Father's age = 2K years

Before 20 years, Son's age = K - 20 years

And, Father's age = 2K - 20 years

According To The Question,

⇒ 12 (K - 20) = 2K - 20

⇒ 12K - 240 = 2K - 20

⇒ 12K - 2K = 240 - 20

⇒ 10K = 220

⇒ K = 220/10

⇒ K = 22

Hence, Present age of son = K = 22 years

And,

Present age of father = 2K = 2×22 = 44 years.

Hope It Helps!

Answer :

Present age of man = 44 years.

Present age of son = 22 years.

Step-by-step explanation :

Let the present age of son be x years.

Then, father's age = 2x years.

Before 20 years,

Son's age = ( x - 20 )

Man's age = ( 2x - 20 )

According to the question ;

12 ( x - 20 ) = 2x - 20

⇒ 12 x - 240 = 2x - 20

⇒ 12 x - 2x = - 20 + 240

⇒ 10 x = 220

⇒ x = 220 / 10

⇒ x = 22

Son's age = x = 22 years.

Man's age = 2x = 44 years.

Hence,

Present age of son = 22 years.

Present age of man = 44 years.
