Answer:

18.9 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the total number of breaks needed:

1 km = 1 break

54 km = 1 x 54 = 54 breaks

But he does not need to take a break at the last km because he has reached his destination.

Number of breaks = 54 - 1 = 53 breaks

Find the time taken for the breaks

1 break = 18 mins

53 breaks = 53 x 18 = 954 mins = 15.9 hours

Find the time spent walking:

Distance = 54 km

Speed = 18km/h

Time taken = Distance ÷ Speed

Time taken = 54 ÷ 18 = 3 hours

Find the total time taken:

Total time taken = 3 + 15.9 = 18.9 hours

Answer;  18.9 hours
