A man is walking at the speed of 5km/h when a train passes by him .If the speed of the train is 55km/h and its length is125m , how much time will the train take to pass by him if they travel in (1) the same direction (2) opposite direction

Speed of the train relative to man = ( 50 – 5 )

Converting ,

km/hr = ( 45 * 5 / 18) m/sec = 25/2 m/ sec.

Distance covered in passing the man = 125m.

∴ Time taken = 125 / ( 25/2) sec = ( 125 * 2 / 25) sec = 10 sec.
