Answer:

11.66 kms

Step-by-step explanation:

After getting t = 70

Divide 70 by 60 to get in hours then put in eq1

10*(70/60) = d

d = 11.66 kms

The distance between his office and home is approximate 11.67 km

Given:

A man leaves house and travel at a speed of 10 km/hr reaches his office 20 minutes late

Next day he increased his speed by 4km/hr and reaches on time

To Find:

Distance between his office and home

Solution:

Assume that time taken on late reaching day is t hrs

Distance = Speed * Time

Distance = 10 * t  = 10t km

Next da he reaches on time hence taken 20 mins less

so time taken = t - (20/60)

= t  - 1/3  hrs

Speed = 10 + 4 = 14 km/he

Distance = 14 *( t - 1/3)  km

Equate Distances

14 *( t - 1/3)  = 10t

=> 14(3t - 1)  = 30t

=> 42t - 14 = 30t

=> 12t = 14

=> t = 7/6

Distance = 10t  km

= 10 (7/6)

≈ 11.67 km

The distance between his office and home is approximate 11.67 km
