Given : A man left 1/2 of his money to his wife,

2/5 of what remained to his son, and

₱40,000 more than 1/2 of what then remained to his daughter.

The remaining money was shared equally by his 2 nieces.

Each niece has an equal share of ₱47,500,

To Find :   how much money did the man leave behind

Solution:

Amount  = 100x  ₱

For his wife = (1/2) 100x  = 50x  ₱

Remaining = 100x - 50x = 50x  ₱

For Son = (2/5) 50x  = 20x  ₱

Remained  =   50x - 20x = 30x ₱

Gave to Daughter = 40000 + (1/2) 30x   = 15x  + 40000 ₱

Remaining = 30x  - ( 15x + 40000)  = 15x - 40000 ₱

The remaining money was shared equally by his 2 nieces.

=> (15x - 40000)/2  = 47500

=> 15x - 40000 = 95000

=> 15x = 135000

=> x = 9000

100x = 900000

man leave behind 900000 ₱
