A man left₹9656 to be divided among his three sons in proportion to their ages at the times of his death. When he died their ages were 25, 22 and 21 respectively (a) obtain the share of each; (b) what difference it would have made to each of his sons, if the father had lived a year longer?

a)....let his son's age be 25x, 22x and 21x respectively..

therefore..25x+22x+21x=9656
68x=9656
x=9656/68=142

now, money each son would get = 25x= 3350
22x=3124
21x= 2982 ..

b) if farmer would have died a year later then his son's age will be 26,23&21 years respectively.....therefore amount they would have got = 26x, 23x &22x
therefore. 26x+23x+22x=9656

71x=9656. = 9656/71= 136rs. .....answer!

(therefore new amount : 26x= 3536
23x= 3128
22x= 2992) just to check ur answer!
