Answer:

Rs 20,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the whole amount of property be Rs 100.

Property given to his wife:    1/2 of 100 = Rs 50

Property given to his daughter: 1/2 of remaining = 1/2 of 50

                                                                                = Rs 25

Now according to the question, the daughter got Rs 5000.

So:

If, Rs 25 = Rs 5,000

Then Rs 100 = x

(Cross Multiply)

25x = 5,00,000

x = 5,00,000/25

x = 20,000

  • Money the man had left = x = Rs 20,000
  • Money the wife got = 1/2 of x = 1/2 of 20,000 = Rs 10,000
  • Money the daughter got = 1/2 of 10,000 = Rs 5,000
  • Money the son got = 10,000 - 5,000 = 5,000
