Therefore he lent Rs. 271768.5 at 4% p.a.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

A man lends a certain amount at 4% p.a.

He also invest Rs.156500 at 4.5%  At the end of year the total interest is Rs 115750.

Let, he lent Rs. x at 4% p.a

According to problem

\frac{156500\times 4.5 \times 1}{100} +\frac{x\times 4\times 1}{100}= 115750

⇔704250 + 4x = 11575000

⇔4x = 10870750

⇔x=2717687.5

Therefore he lent Rs. 271768.5 at 4% p.a.
