Answer:

1.2%

Step-by-step explanation:

6000*x/24   +   24000*x/48   =  900

12000x+24000x  / 48   = 900

36000x/48  = 900

750x  = 900

x = 900/750

x = 1.2%

The rate of interest = 1.2%

Given:

A man lent 6000 Rs to Basu for 2 years

He lent 24000 Rs for Chetan for 4 years

The interest he received from both = 900 Rs

To find:

The rate of interest simple interest being calculated

Solution:

The interest gained from Basu

Here, the amount he lent P = 6000 for time period T = 2 years

Let the rate of interest = R

As we know Interest = (PTR)/100

Interest = (6000×2×R)/100 = 120 R

The interest gained from Chetan

Here, the amount he lent P = 24000 for time period T = 4 years

Let the rate of interest = R

Interest = (24000×4×R)/100 = 240R × 4 = 960 R

The total interest gained = 120 R + 960 R = 1080 R

From given data interest received = 900 Rs

⇒ 1080 R = 900

⇒ R = 1.2 %

The rate of interest = 1.2%
