A man of rs500 is in the form of denominations of rs5 and rs10. If the total number of notes is 90, find the number of notes of each types.

let the number of 5rs notes be x
and number of 10rs notes be y , then;

x+y = 90
x = 90-y

5x+10y = 500
x+2y = 100
x = 100-2y
__________________
90-y = 100-2y
y = 10
__________________
x = 90-y
= 90-10
x = 80
__________________
Hence the number of 5Rs notes is 80, whereas that of 10Rs are 10.
