suppose if the man is in the rocket which is moving with four G acceleration then to apply Newton laws of motion we have to apply a pseudo force of 4 mg downwards on the man and since the weighting machine measures the normal reaction exerted by man on it which is equal to the the normal reaction force applied by the weighing machine so the apparent weight of the man comes out to be 5 mg you can understand the situation more clearly by using the concept of lift in which if the lift moves in the upward direction then a greater force is experienced by someone when the lift is moving upward and a lesser force is experienced by someone when the lift moves downward
