Cost of 1 chair = 72rupees

Cost of 40 chairs = 72 × 40rupees

= 2880 rupees

So,

CP = 2880 rupees

As 5 chairs got dameged , Number of chairs sold

= 40-5

=35

So,

SP of 1 chair = 84 rupees

SP of 35 chairs = 84×35

= 2940 rupees

As SP is greater than CP , he got profit

Profit = SP-CP

= 2940-2880

= 60 rupees

Profit% = Profit / CP × 100

= 60/2880 × 100℅

= 25/12℅
