let the total number of oranges = mangoes = x

cost of 1 orange = 1/4 rs.

cost of 1 mango = 1/8 rs.

x + x = 1/4 + 1/8

2x = 3/8

x = 3/16 rs.

he sold the mixture at 1/5 rs.

1/5 = 3/15

overall profit = x*(3/15-3/16)

profit = 3x*(11/15-1/16)

profit = 3x*1/240

profit = x/80 rs.

he earned a profit of 1.25 paise per fruit.
