Given: Number of stools purchased = 7

           Cost of one stool = Rs. 150

           Number of tables purchased =  8

           Cost of one table = Rs. 280

           Total selling price of all the stools and tables = Rs. 3100

To find: The gain or loss

Solution: According to the given question,

Cost of stools = 150 × 7 = Rs. 1,050

Cost of tables = 280 × 8 = Rs. 2,240

Total cost price of all the stools and tables = 1050 + 2240 = Rs. 3,290

Now, we can see that total cost price is greater than the selling price. It means that the person suffered loss.

Loss = Selling \ Price - Cost \ Price

          = 3,290 - 3,100 = Rs. 190

Hence, the man suffered a loss of Rs. 190.
