Let the number of eggs purchased be x.
Given: C.P of 3 eggs= Rs 5
⇒C.P of x eggs= Rs
5/3x
and S.P of 5 eggs= Rs 12.
so, S.P of x eggs = Rs
12/5x
Now profit = S.P - C.P
⇒143 = 12x/5-5/3x
⇒143 = 36x-25x/15 = 11/15x
⇒143×15/11 = 195
Hence the man purchased 195 eggs.

Let the number of eggs be x

Cost of 3 eggs= ₹5

Cost of 1 egg =5/3*x

So,C.P=5/3*x

Eggs sold=5

Price at which eggs are sold =₹12

So,SP=12/5x

Profit=S.P-C.P

143=12/5x - 5/3x

( For Solving, take the LCM of 3 and 5 and solve through it )

X = 195

Thus, he purchased 195 eggs
