Let number of tables a man purchased = X
number of chairs he purchased = Y
Total items = 13
Therefore, X + Y = 13 - - - - - - - (1)
Rate of table = Rs 70
Rate of chair = Rs 45
Total expense = Rs 760
Therefore, 70X + 45Y = 760
14X + 9Y = 152 -----(2)
Equate (1) & (2) by multiply (1) by 9and subtract
9X + 9Y = 117
14X + 9Y = 152
-___-____-___
- 5X = - 35
X = 35 / 5
X = 7 number of tables.
Therefore, number of chairs = 13 - 7 = 6 chairs
