Purchase price = 1,3333… = 1+1/3 = 1+2/6 = 8/6 rupees

Sale price = 1,5 = 1+3/6 = 9/6 rupees

That means the sale price was 1/8 higher than the purchase price, which means he had a gain margin of 12,5%.
