Given - Increase in man's salary - 20%

New salary of man - 24,600

Find - Old salary of man.

Solution - Let the old salary of man be X. After increase in 10% in salary, the new salary is 24,600. Representing it in the form of equation -

X + 20% of X = 24,600

X + 20x/100 = 24,600

100x + 20x = 24,600*100

120x = 24,60000

x = 20,500

Therefore, the old salary of the person was 20,500 and he got increment of 4,100.
