a man's age three times that of his son ,and in twelve years he will be twice as old as as his son would be . what are there present ages

son age =x yr
father age = 3x years
after 12 yrs
son age = (x+12)yrs
father age = (3x+12)yrs
given
father age = 2× son age
3x+12 =2(x+12)
3x+12=2x+24
3x-2x=24-12
x=12
therefore
at present
son age =x=12 yrs
father age =3x =3*12 =36 yrs
