A man's salary increased by 12%. If his present salary
is 13,440, find the previous salary.

To keep it simple for calculation, take salary as rs 100

After hike of 8 and 12, the salary becomes 108 and 120.96

For this 12% is reduced which is 14.52(approx to next digit)

Subtract 14.52 from 120.96 to get 106.44

So the effective change is 6.44%
