let x be savings of this year ,then x+100 will be savings of next year and x+200 will be savins of after 2 years  and soon .He saves for 10 years.

x+x+100+x+200+..........x+900=16500

10x=12000

x=1200 which is savings of 1st year

Answer:

A man saved ₹ 1200 in first year.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

In 10 years a man saved, S10 = ₹16500

In each year after the first he saved, d = 100

Here , number of years, n = 10

Let 'a' be the first year.

By using the formula ,Sum of nth terms , Sn = n/2 [2a + (n – 1) d]

S10= 10/2 [2a + (10 – 1) 100]

16500 = 5 [2a + 9 × 100]

16500/5 = 2a + 900

3300 = 2a + 900

2a = 3300 – 900

2a = 2400

a = 2400/2

a = 1200

Hence, a man saved ₹ 1200 in first year.
