Let the no. Be x
When sivided by 3
=x/3
And add 5
=x/3+5
Then the no. Is 2x
》x/3+5=2x
》2x-x/3=5
》6x-x=15
》5x=15
》x=3.
Therefore the no. Was 3.

let x be the original no.

When we divide the number by 3 we have x/3.

When we add 5 to that number we have x/3 + 5

This number is equal to the original number ( x/3 + 5 = 2x )

x/3 +5 = 2x

( Multiply both sides by 3 )

x + 15 = 6x

subtract x from both sides of the equation to give you:

15 = 6x - x

∴ x = 15/5 = 3

∴ The original number is 3.
