gain percentage = 33 1/3% = 100/3 can be written as 1/3

we know that cost price + gain = sales

if cost price is x..

then x + 1/3x = 80

(3x + 1x )/3 = 80

4x/3 = 80

4x = 80 * 3

4x = 240

x =240/4 = 60

cost of  12 articles is 60....

then cost of each article = 60/12 = 5

amount spent by the man = 90..

the no.of articles bought will be .... amount spent/cost of each article = 90/5 = 18 ..so 18 articles ..
