Answer:

S.P 1 = 621

Gain = 20%

C.P = S.P*100/(100+P)

      = 621*100/120 = 517.5

SP2 = 621

Loss = 20%

C.P = S.P*100/(100-L) = 621*100/80 = 776.25

Total C.P = 1293.75

Total S.P = 1242

Loss = 51.75

Loss% = L/C.P * 100 = 51.75/1293.75 * 100 = 4%

Hence, there is an overall loss of 4%.

[N.B: If 2 articles are sold at same S.P, one is sold at a profit of 'X%' and the other at a loss of 'X%', then there will be a 'LOSS' in overall transaction.]

Hope this helps.
