Given:

Number of the last idli that the man ate = 100

Number of more idlis that the man ate each day = 6

To find:

How many idlis did the man eat yesterday.

Solution:

Let the number of idlis that the man eats be x on the first day. Then the number of idlis in the consecutive days will be:

2nd day = x + 6

3rd day = x+ 12

4th day = x + 18

5th day = x + 24

And the equation according to the given question will be:

x + x+6 + x+ 12 + x + 18 + x + 24 = 100

5x + 60 = 100

5x + 40

x = 8

Thus the number of idlis that the man eats yesterday i.e. on the 4th day will be:

= x + 18

= 8 + 18

= 26

Option A is correct.
