sold = 1/2

land given to son = 1/2

land given to daughter = 1/3

land he has remaining = x

so lets say total land = 1

1 = 1/2 + 1/2(1/2) + 1/2(1/3) + x

1 = 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/6 + x

1 = 6 + 3 + 2 / 12 + x

1 = 11/12 x

x = 1 - 11/12

x = 1/12
