•Step-by-step explanation: Let x be the no. of shares sold

•income on one share = 8% of 20 = 8/5 Rs.

•total income on x shares = 8/5x

•since x shares is sold at Rs. 18 , sale value of shares = 18x

•18x shares is invested in Rs.10 shares at 50% premium

•hence new value of share = 1+50/100 = 15 Rs.

•Total no. of shares bought = 18x/15

•dividend received on one share = 12% of 10 Rs = 6/5

•Therefore total income on new shares = 6/5x6x/5 = 36x/5

•loss in income = 8x/5 -36x/5 = 4x/25

•Given 4x/25 = 120

x = 750

●.The no. of shares sold = 750
