A man sold a watch for Rs 600 and half as much as he gave for it and gained Rs 400. What did he pay for the watch? (Please answer it fast!!!!! Its urgent!!)

Let the half of the original price be x
Then original price becomes 2x
Given that: He sold the watch for Rs.600+x
Gained =Rs.400
But,
Gain=Selling Price - Cost Price
=>400=600+x-2x
=>400-600= -x
=>-200=-x
=>x=200
Now original price is 2x=2×200=Rs.400 (Ans.)
