It is a simple question.

The price on which a shop or organization sells a product is known as

"List Price".

The discount is offered on this List Price.

So , Let

The List Price = x Rs.

Discount Percentage = 15 %   (Given)

Discount Price = List Price - (List price)(15%)

Discount Price = (List Price)(1 - 15%)

Discount Price = (List Price)(1 - 0.15)

Discount Price = 0.85 L         where L = List Price

Similarly Profit can be calculated if the price is given.

Answer:

The percentage of profit ignoring the discount will be 47.6%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the man sell the article to Rs 100 without discount

With discount of 15% i.e. Rs 15 new selling price = 100-15 = 85

Let the cost price of the article be rs x

since after selling the article at Rs 85, the shopkeeper made a profit of 25.5%

=> x + 25.5% of x = 85

=> 125.5x/100 = 85

=> x = 85x100/125.5

=> x = 67.72 Rs

Now without discount the shopkeeper would have sold it to Rs 100

so profit = 100 - 67.72 = 32.28

Hence percentage of profit = 32.28 x 100/67.72 = 47.6 %

Hence ignoring the discount the shopkeeper would have made a profit of 47.6%
