The number of shares sold by him are 99.8

Let the number of shares be sold = x

Selling price of x shares = 90x ( 10% Discount)

Selling price of x shares = 110x ( 10% Premium)

Each share of 50 than can be purchased with 90x = 90x/33

Face value = 50 × 90/33x

Annual Income = 15% of 50 × 90/33x

= 15/100 × 50 × 90/33x

= 225/11x

Each share of 50 than can be purchased with 110x = 110x/33

Face value = 50 × 110/33x

Annual Income = 15% of 50 × 110/33x

= 15/100 × 50 × 110/33x

= 25x

Therefore,

25x - 225x/11 = 454

50x = 454 × 11

x = 454 × 11 / 50

x = 99.8

Thus, the number of shares sold by him are 99.8

99 Shares sold by him

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say number of Shares  = S

at 10 % Discount  value = 90S

at 10 % premium value = 110S

Extra income = 20S

Number of shares bought with 20S  =  20S/33

Premium per share = (15/100) 50  = 7.5 Rs

Premium on (20S/33) Share  = (20S/33) * 7.5

= 150S/33

= 50S/11

50S/11 = 450

=> S = 99
