hi friend

first article:

SP is 375

gain 25%

let the CP be x

SP will be x+25% of x
=5x/4
5x/4=375
5x=1500
x=300

second article:

SP is 375

loss 25%

let the CP be y

SP will be y- 25% of y
= 3y/4

3y/4= 375
3y=1500
y=500

total CP = 500+300
= 800

total SP = 375+375
= 750

there is a loss

loss = 800-750
=50

the loss %

50/800*100

=50/8
=6•25%

hope it helps...

dainvincible1: loss% = loss/CP * 100 = 50/750 * 100 = 6.67%
Annabelle1056: but loss should be on cp not sp
dainvincible1: sorry my mistake
Annabelle1056: Its okay dear!
kesukus6: Yes

given SP = Rs. 375
if gain = 25%
gain% = (SP-CP)/CP * 100
⇒ 25 = (375-CP)/CP * 100
⇒ 25/100 = (375-CP)/CP
⇒ 0.25CP = 375 - CP
⇒ 0.25CP + CP = 375
⇒ CP = 375/1.25 = Rs. 300
if loss = 25%
loss% = (CP-SP)/CP * 100
⇒ 25 = (CP-375)/CP * 100
⇒ 25/100 = (CP-375)/CP
⇒ 0.25CP = CP - 375
⇒ CP - 0.25 CP = 375
⇒ CP = 375/0.75 = Rs. 500
total CP = 300+500 = 800
total SP = 375+375 = 750
loss = 800- 750 = Rs. 50
loss% = loss/CP * 100 = 50/800 * 100
= 6.25%
