Step-by-step explanation:

Based on the concept if sp is same

then overall percent = x+y+xy/100

=25-25-25×25/100

=-25×25/100=-25/4=-6.25

the whole loss is 6.25%

Question

A man sold two articles at 375 each. On the first article, he gains 25% and on the other, he loses 25%. How much does he gain or lose in the whole transaction? Also, find the gain or loss percent in the whole transaction.??

Solution

S.P. Of 1st washing machine = 12000

Gain 25%

C.P of 1st washing machine,

= S.P \times  \frac{100}{100}  + gain \%

= 12000 \times \frac{100}{100}  + 25 \%

= 12000 \times \frac{100}{125}

= ₹ 9600

Now, S.P of 2nd Washing machine = ₹12000

Loss = 25%

C.P of washing machine,

S.P \times \frac{100}{100}  + loss

12000 \times \frac{100}{100}  - 25 \%

12000 \times \frac{100}{75}

= ₹16000

Now, Total S.P of washing machines = S.P of 1st washing machines + S.P of 2nd washing machine

= ₹12000 + ₹12000

= ₹24000

Now, Total C.P of washing machine = C.P of 1st washing machine + S.P of 2nd washing machine

= ₹9600 + ₹16000 = ₹25600

Therefore, Loss in the whole transaction = (25600 - 24000) = ₹ 1600

Therefore,

loss% = (\frac{loss}{cp} \times 100) \%

= (\frac{1600}{25600}  \times 100) \%

= \frac{25}{4} \%

= 6 \times \frac{1}{4} \%
