Answer:

 Total \:loss =Rs\:77

Step-by-step explanation:

i) Selling \:price \: of \: a\\painting (s.p) = Rs 924\\gain(g)=20\%

 cost\:price (c.p) = \frac{s.p\times 100}{100+g}\\=\frac{924\times 100}{100+20}\\=\frac{924\times 100}{120}\\=Rs\:770

ii) Selling \:price \: of \: a\\painting (s.p) = Rs \:924\\Loss(l)=20\%

 cost\:price (c.p) = \frac{s.p\times 100}{100-l}\\=\frac{924\times 100}{100-20}\\=\frac{924\times 100}{80}\\=Rs\:1155

 Now,\\Total \:cost\:price(TCP)\\= Rs\:770+Rs\:1155 = Rs\:1925\\Total\: selling \:price (TSP)\\= Rs\:924+Rs\:924 = Rs\:1848

(TCP) > (TSP)

He gets loss.

 Total \:loss = Rs\:1925-Rs\:1848\\=Rs\:77
