Let the income of man be x

Money he spend on food = 10% of x
=> 10/100 × x
=> x/ 10

Money left with him = total money - money spent
=> x - x/10
=> 10x - x /10
=> 9x / 10

Money spent on clothings = 80% of 9x /10
=> 80/100 × 9x / 10
=> 18x / 25

Money left with him = 9x / 10 - 18x / 25
=> 9x /50

It is given that now he was left with 1800.

So

9x / 50 = 1800
=> 9x = 1800 × 50
=> x = 10000

His income is rs 10,000

A man spend 10% of his income on food and 80% of the remaining income on clothings , if he still has a balance of Rs  1800 Then  his income is Rs 10000

Given : A man spend 10% of his income on food and 80% of the remaining income on clothing .

he still has a balance of Rs 1800.

To Find : Income

Solution:

Income = Rs 100x

10 % spend  =  (10/100)100x = 10x   Rs

Remaining after 10 % spend = 100x - 10x  = 90x  Rs

80% of the remaining spend  income on clothing .

= (80/100) 90x

= 72x  Rs

Still Available = 90x - 72x = 18x   Rs

Still Available = Rs 1800

Equate :

18x = 1800

=> x = 100

=> 100x = 10000

Income is Rs 10000
