Let the monthly income = X
Money spent on house rent =4/5 X
Left money =1/5 X
Money spent on food = 1/2 of 1/5 X
= 1/10 X
Money spent on other items = 1/5 of 1/10 X
=1/50 X
Given, left money(400) + spent money = monthly income
:- 400 + 4/5 X +1/10 X + 1/50 X = X
:- 4X = 20000
:- X = 5000
Hence, monthly income of man is 5000 rupees.
