Answer:

5 : 1

Step-by-step explanation:

A man spends 500 rupees in buying 12 tables and chairs the cost of one table is 50 rupees and that of one chair is 40 rupees what is the ratio of the numbers of the chairs and tables purchase?

Let say Table Bought = T

& Chair Bought = C

T + C = 12  - eq 1

50T + 40C = 500

=> 5T + 4C = 50  Eq2

Eq 2 - 4 * eq1

=> T = 50-40

=> T = 2

=> C = 10

Ratio of number of  Chairs & Tables purcahsed

10 : 2

=> 5 : 1
