A man spends 6.4KJ energy in displacing a body by 64m in the direction in which he applies force, in 2.5s. Calculate : (1) the force applied, and (2) the power spent (in H.P.) by the man.

work done = energy spent = 6.4 KJ = 6400J
6400 = Force × Distance
Force = 6400/64 = 100 N

Power = Work done/Time = 6400/2.5 = 2560 watt = 2560/746= 3.43 HP

Answer:

Explanation: work done by man= 6.4 kj

Distance move, s is 64 m

1) work done by the man = force×distance moved in direction of force

Work,w = f×d

6.4×10^3=f×64

f= 6.4×10^3/64 =100 N

2) power spent= 6.4×10^3/2.5 = 2560w

1 H.P = 746w

1w = 1/746 H.P

2560w = 2560/746 H.P = 3.43 H.P
