Answer : He spends ₹ 8000 on clothes.

Let the total income be ₹ x

He spend on food = 60 % of x =

(60/100) × x

= 3x/5

Remaining money = x - 3x/5

= 2x/5

He spend on clothes and conveyance =

50 % of 2x/5

= (50/100) × 2x/5

= x/5

remaining money = (2x/5) - (x/5)

= x/5

remaining money = ₹ 8000

it means, x/5 = 8000

x = 8000 × 5

x = 40,000

he spend on clothes = x/5

= 40,000/5

= ₹ 8000 .
