Answer:

Given,

% spent = 80%

Total % =100%

also,

Total % = % spent + % saved

⇒100% = 80% + %saved

⇒% saved = 20%

Money saved in one month = Rs.12500

let the total salary be x

∴20% of x = 12500

\frac{20}{100} x = 12500

⇒x = \frac{12500 * 100}{20}

⇒x = 62500

Hence salary is Rs. 62500

∴80% of 62500 is money spent

= \frac{80}{100} x 62500

=50000

Hence money spent is Rs.50,000

Hope it helps :)

Given:

Total monthly spendings (in percentage) = 80%

Total savings = Rs. 12,500

To find:

Total monthly spendings (in Rs) = ?

Stepwise solution:

The steps to calculate the amount of money man spends from his total monthly salary are:

Let us assume that total monthly salary of man in percentage = 100%

Salary spent by man = 80 % (given)

∴Total savings = Total salary - Total spendings

Total savings = 100 % - 80 %

Total savings = 20 %

Now to find his monthly salary in rupees the steps are:

Amount saved = Rs 12,500 (given)

∴ (Total salary in Rs. ÷ Total salary in percentage) = (Amount saved in Rs. ÷ Amount saved in percentage)

Cross multiply to find total salary in Rs.

Total salary in Rs. = (Amount saved in Rs. × Total salary in percentage) ÷ Amount saved in percentage

Total salary in Rs. = (12,500 × 100) ÷ 20

Total salary in Rs. = 62,500

Total amount spent = Total salary - Total savings

Total amount spent = Rs. 62,500 -  Rs. 12,500

Total monthly spending = Rs. 50,000

  • Hence, Rs. 50,000 is the monthly spendings of a man.
