A man spends one-third of his montly income on food , one -fourth on children's education and one-sixth on clothing . He keeps the remaining 7,000 rupees for miscellaneous expenses for the moth. His monthly income is Rs 28000.

Let the monthly income be Rs x.

Money spent on food is one-third of his monthly income, is equal to (1/3)x   ...(1)

Money spent on children's education is one-fourth of his monthly income, is equal to (1/4)x                                                                                                        ...(2)

Money spent on clothing is one-sixth of his monthly income, is equal to (1/6)x

...(3)

So, total of these expenses = (1) + (2) + (3) =  (1/3)x + (1/4)x + (1/6)x = (18/24)x

= (3/4)x

Remaining money left from his income = x - (3/4)x = Rs (1/4)x

It is given that this remaining amount is equal to Rs 7000

So, (1/4)x = 7000

Hence, x = Rs 28000

Thus monthly income is = x = Rs 28000
