Let, the amount of money be, "a"

∴ He spent on food = (a×25/100)

                                = 25a/100

∴ He spent on rent and transportation = (a × 55/100)

                                                                 = 55a/100

∴ His total expenditure = (25a/100) +(55a/100)

                                       = (25a+55a)/100

                                       = 80a/100

∴ The amount of money he saved = a- (80a/100)

                                                         = (100a-80a)/100

                                                         = 20a/100

By condition,

20a/100=9000

⇒20a= 9000×100

⇒a = (9000×100)/20

⇒a = 45000

∴He had ₹45000

∴The amount of money he spent on rent and transportation

= ₹{(45000×55)/100}

= ₹ (450×55)

=₹24750
