The properties of an image created by a plane mirror are- equal size, virtual, and erect.

The distance between:

  • A) The man and the image:- Here the object is a man, who is 3 m away from the plane mirror. Therefore his image will also be formed at a 3 m distance in the mirror. The distance between man and object will be 3m + 3m = 6 m.
  • B) The man and the image of the wall:- Distance between man and the plane mirror is 3 m. The distance between the wall and the mirror is 4 m behind him i.e. 7 m away from the mirror. The image of the wall will also be 7 m away. Therefore the distance between man and the image of the wall is 3 m + 7 m = 10 m.
  • C) If the man moves 2m away from the mirror, the distance between the wall and the image of the man:- The distance of the wall from the mirror will stay 7 m. If the man moves 2 m away, the distance between him and the mirror will become 5 m. So, the distance between mirror and image of man will also be 5 m. So the distance between wall and image of man will become 7 m + 5 m = 12 m.
