Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN:-

A man starts his job with a certain a

monthly salary and earns a fixed

increment every year. If his salary

was Rs.1500after 4 years of service

and Rs. 1800 after 10 years of

service, what was the his starting

salary .

a4 = 1500

n = 4

a10 = Rs.1800

To Find :- His starting salary and annual increment.

SOLUTION :-

an = a + (n-1)d

1800 = a + ( 10 - 1 ) d

=> a + 9d = 1800... eq. 01

an = a + (n - 1) d

1500 = a + ( 4 - 1) d

=> a + 3d = 1500 ... eq. 02

Subtracting eq. 02 from 01

a + 9d - ( a + 3d ) = 1800 - 1500

=> a + 9d - a - 3d = 300

=> 6d = 300

=> d = 50

So, annual increment is Rs. 50

Now, starting salary ( a ) can be found by substituting value of d in eq. 02,

a + 3 * 50 = 1500

=> a = 1500 - 150

=> 1350

Hence, the man's salary after end of 10yrs of job shall be Rs. 1350 (Ans)
